Description:

A truly rare and exotic caudiciform from Thailand, Brachystelma sp. forms a compact underground tuber and produces fine, thread-like vines during the active season. A slow grower with a striking caudex, this plant is highly valued among collectors for its unusual form, seasonal growth cycle, and low maintenance needs. It remains dormant in winter (November to January) and starts growing again from February to October. A must-have for lovers of unique caudiciforms.

🌞 Light

– Bright indirect light or gentle morning sun

– Avoid strong afternoon sunlight

 

🌡️ Temperature

– Ideal range: 20°C to 35°C

– Keep above 15°C — not frost-hardy

 

🌱 Soil

– Requires a very well-drained mix

– Use a base of *cinder, pumice, and lava rock*

– Avoid cocopeat, compost, or water-retentive materials

 

💧 Watering

– During growing season: once every 7–10 days when soil is fully dry

– During dormancy: once every 25–30 days or only if caudex shrinks

– Always ensure proper drainage. Never let the plant sit in wet soil

 

🍀 Fertilizer

– Feed monthly with diluted  10-10-10 NPK or liquid seaweed extract

– Do not fertilize during dormancy

 

🍂 Dormancy Note

– Natural dormancy occurs in winter

– Foliage will dry and fall off — this is normal

– Resume watering once new growth begins in late winter or early spring
