🌿 Othonna euphorbioides – The Caudex Crown with Euphorbia-Like Charm
Category: Rare Caudiciform Succulent / Winter-Growing Geophyte
Origin: South Africa
Delivery: Ships bare root with care instructions
Description:
Othonna euphorbioides is a stunning, slow-growing caudiciform succulent native to South Africa’s semi-arid regions. It forms a thick, woody caudex at the base, from which rise fleshy, segmented, leafless green stems — resembling Euphorbia species, hence the name “euphorbioides.”
This sculptural plant enters active growth during the cooler months, often producing bright yellow daisy-like flowers atop its stems in winter. In summer, it drops its stems and goes dormant, leaving behind a beautifully textured caudex — making it a year-round visual interest for collectors.
🌟 Key Features:
✔️ Thick woody caudex – natural bonsai appearance
✔️ Leafless segmented stems like Euphorbia
✔️ Winter grower with yellow flowers
✔️ Completely deciduous in summer
✔️ Highly sought after in caudiciform collections
